5 years minimum relevant design experience in leading concepts for
production feasible complex automotive products in engine components applications.
Proficient with minimum one of the software - CATIA, Pro-E, Ideas and/or UG.
Technical Skills Requirements
· Demonstrated leadership in automotive components design, preferably related to
engine components (e.g. water pump, oil pump, vacuum pump, MBS, etc.).
· Possess knowledge of various manufacturing methods such as casting,
molding methods.
· Able to generate and turn new ideas into working prototypes.
· Able to analyze and use engineering principles to prove out concepts.
· Good understanding of state of the art and future strategies for the automotive
industry in engine components.
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft office e.g. PowerPoint, Project, Paint, Word,
Excel, etc.
· Able to coordinate and lead technical solutions.
· Exceptional organizational and communication solutions.
· Possess working knowledge of ISO9001/QS9000/TS16949 and Quality
Engineering.
· Able to design 3D solid, wire frame and surfaces.
· Knowledge of GD&T, Design for Manufacturing, VE/VA,
Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA)
· Knowledge of Manufacturing processes and Assembly technology
· Competent at completing tolerance stacks for complex components,
assemblies and systems.
· Blue Print reading, advanced measuring techniques, computer literate
· Understanding of design inputs and outputs for CAE analysis - FEA and CFD
· Knowledge of techniques and processes used to produce prototype components.
· Awareness of concurrent and simultaneous engineering techniques with the
ability to work as part of a project team to achieve results often with short or
compressed timing.
· Able to prepare and present to customers.
Primary Function
· Responsible for producing design concepts by designing or
coordinating activities within a team of designers, analysts and
engineers with the associated companies
· Offering guidance to company teams to design best in class
performance engine components.
· Communicate new technology activities within the group.
· Must be able to interface with customers, sales teams and other divisions within
the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Review customer Statement of Requirements and convert these to meaningful
targets.
2. Evaluation of engine components on both a micro and macro level.
3. Work with CFD specialist and other engineering functions to evaluate designs
from a component and system level.
4. Benchmarking competitor strategies through technical literature,
attending technical seminars and conferences and any other media available.
5. Specify targets and issue objectives for systems and components.
6. Provide guidance and support to other divisions and departments.
7. Coordinate or partake in design activities including concept design and producing
detail drawing using CAD.
8. Assist in creating DFMEA and DVP&R documents.
9. Work with program managers to assist in meeting deadlines.
10. Assist in resolving quality issues when requested.
11. Compile technical reports as required.
12. Prepare and present information to internal and external customers.
13. Prepare a work schedule with interim and end target estimates for all projects
within his/her responsibility.
14. May be requested to support other customer activities that will include
creating detail drawings for components
other than new technologies, supporting APQP, reliability processes and any
other main stream product design activity outlined by the Engineering Manager.
15. Maintains and updates CAD files library.
16. Responsible to accurately maintain Engineering Change Notice log & track all
changes proposed by customer at various phases of the project life cycle.
17. Provides Engineering support to other divisions within organisation as directed by
the Engineering Manager and/or his/her designers.
18. Follows and enforces the guidelines and rules as defined in Company policies.
19. Available for frequent travel on Company business.
20. May be required to work onsite at customer locations for different periods of time.
21. May be required to work at other company location/s as necessary (including overseas offices).
22. May be required to perform other duties, as directed by Engineering Manager.
23. Willing to relocate.

Reports to the Engineering Manager and is accountable to him/her for the effective
discharge of his/her responsibilities.
