Position: Design Engineer

1. Job Overview:To execute project requirements in the design, detailing and costing of new products and major modification to existing products, with or without supervision. Product Development team member, responsible for the design and development of product, liaison with suppliers and customers as appropriate.
2. Principle AccountabilityRepresent immediate Project Engineer/Supervisor in his absence
Prepare minor design, drawings and cost studies with accuracy and conformance to procedure.
Support major design, drawings and cost studies with respect to accuracy and conformance to procedure.
Prepare accurate and concise layouts of modified components and/or new concepts and designs
Calculate stack up of detail components
Make major clearance layout(s) of components
Be capable of conveying ideas and thoughts clearly both in drawing information and in technical discussions.
Assist customers, plants, and department personnel to ensure that projects are worked on in accordance with department priorities.
Assist in training new and contract Engineers/Designers.
Provide weekly reports, monthly reports and project status reports to customers/supervisor.
Maintain positive external and internal customer satisfaction
- Monitor quality systems
Adherence to TS.
Share product knowledge across business unit.
Seek periodic feedbacks.
Address quality issues and derive improvement plans.
Be a good team player.
Initiative and ownership
- Take initiative
- Understand and deliver on the responsibility (self, functions, business units and customers)
Follow ArvinMeritor tools and Best Practices
- “EI” & “CI”, 20 Keys AMPS and SDP
Manage the responsibilities as delegated by supervisor.
3. Education / ExperienceBachelor in Engineering / Science (Diploma Holders considered if accompanied by relevant experience and / or outstanding achievement).
Product Design and Development experience
2 years or more relevant Domain/Software experience
Knowledge on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
Knowledge of DFMEA
Good communication skills
Knowledge of casting, forging and manufacturing is preferred.
