Position Description: System Cost & Innovation Engineer (SCIE) - Chassis
Working from BOM, drawings and/or samples the individual must be able to develop technical cost and investment models for Chassis components and systems using activity based costing methodologies. Individual provides subject matter expertise to support engineering and purchasing at working levels and to executive leadership. Individual must be curious, persistent and innovative. Individual responsible to establish valid cost targets for piece cost and investment of assigned commodities. Must have the ability to analyze supplier quotes and reach agreement on appropriate piece cost and tooling cost using activity based costing. Individual must have understanding of elements of piece cost and investment for various manufacturing processing typical for the production of assigned commodities.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor Degree Required, Engineering Preferred
* 2 years' experience with manufacturing parts in one or more of the following areas: Sand Casting, Aluminum Die Casting, Natural Rubber Compounds Injection Molding, Bonding and Mixing.
* 2 years' experience with tool design and tooling build in one or more of the following: Sand Casting Molds, Aluminum Die Casting Molds, Natural Rubber Compound Injection Molds, Assembly fixtures and Check gages.
* 2 years' experience with capital requirements needed in one or more of the following processes: Sand Casting, Aluminum Die Casting, Natural Rubber Compounds Injection Molding, Bonding and Mixing.
* MS Office proficient
* Excellent communication skills (oral & written).
* Activity based costing experience.
* 1 year experience with design and function of power train mounts.
* 1 year experience with development and manufacturing of power train mounts.
* Occasional day trips with possible overnight travel are required, potential international travel.
* Proficient with PLM tools like Team center or Wind Chill.
Preferred Qualifications
* Familiar with practical application of geometric dimension & tolerance (GD&T)
* Catia V5, NX - general knowledge proficient
* Familiar with other manufacturing processes such as machining, welded assemblies, plastic injection molding, forging, general assembly and robot assembly.
* Familiar with how tooling is built for other manufacturing processes such machining fixtures,
welding fixtures, check fixtures, forging tools, stamping dies, plastic injection die models.
Areas of Specialization in Chassis:
* Steering Pump
* Drum in hat adaptor
* Frames
