Ability to use the design tools like DFMEA, Design to Cost, IDEAS/ProE 
Ability to integrate various transmission components using design concepts to create various sub assembly and assembly drawings 
Build the proto assemblies of new designs in transmissions, validate the same using the in-house testing equipments and create the reliable new concepts in transmission 
Knowledge of the design standards associated with transmission designs 
Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for the vehicles/tractors 
Hands on experience in the area of new product development - Preferable in automobile/tractor industry 
Ability to solve the problems related to transmission during the new product launch 

The leadership skills required are as follows-
Skills in the project management of new product development 
Awareness of Stage gate process of new product development system 
Critically review the project along with the cross functional team members 
Periodically report the progress of the project to senior management, de-bottlenecks and de-risking actions 
Lead the team of designers by rewarding, motivating and developing the subordinates 
Innovation skill - Thinking differently to overcome the current design challenges 
Result orientation to achieve the project time, cost and quality targets
